📂 Reporters Without Borders-HAKQİN AZ-2013
22 March 2013 — Haqqin.az, Eynulla Fatullayev and Reporters Without Borders On 22 March 2013, Haqqin.az published an interview with Azerbaijani journalist and human rights advocate Eynulla Fatullayev following his meeting with representatives of Reporters Without Borders (Reporters sans frontières) in Paris. During the interview, Fatullayev referred to a report published the previous day concerning an Azerbaijani man who had allegedly been subjected to torture in a German prison. The Azerbaijani individual referred to in that report was me, Ismail Rustam, according to my identification of the underlying publication. Fatullayev criticised the reaction of the German section of Reporters Without Borders to his organisation’s reporting on human rights conditions in Germany. He stated that the German government was reacting nervously to criticism and argued that Germany should address allegations of human rights abuses within its own territory. This publication is significant to my historical archive because it documents that allegations concerning my treatment in Germany had entered public international human rights discussions by March 2013.
